Abstract: must have learnt the art of writing from the Greeks. Much internal evidence has since come to hand which confirms that the art of writing was known in India. Rigveda says that ‘ a man does not perceive speech even looking at it ’5 which indicates existence of ‘ writing ’ or - written speech \ Fig. 1.
