concern Wilson s own work, fall into three main divisions :— (i) 541-594. Abstracts of the two great epics and of a number of Puranas and Upapuranas, and translations of selected passages. (ii) 596-607. Abstracts of MSS. in the Mackenzie Collection, from which were prepared the notices in the catalogue, published in 1828.* A few items, belonging properly to the previous section, have found their way into these volumes. (iii) 610-619. Draft of the translation of the Rigveda, which covers all that rvas put into print in the author’s lifetime ; the succeeding volumes were made over after W ilson’s death to the scholars who saw the remainder of the work through the press, and are not in the Library.
